The man who went up a mountain and came down a mouse

Ahh its been a while.

I would guess quite alot of people who use this site also watch Great British Menu and are somewhat surprised  by the antics of Johnny Mountain this week.

Coke and Pepsi link to cancer

I picked up a story about coke and pepsi having to change there recipe due to the fact that that the chemical they use to create the caramel colour in the drinks may be linked to cancer in mice. Seems a bit extreme, apparenetly you would have to drink 2900 cans a day for 70 years to be at risk, I guess this would cover a good proportion on North America...

At my signal, unleash health...

So it's all over for another year, can't say I'm gutted by that.  It's amazing that we go through the year eating sensibly, exercising and drinking in moderation (well 2 out of 3 ain't bad), only to rip it up for a two week binge that would make a Roman orgy tremble.

Christmas dinner

Ive got writer's block, although technically I'm not a writer so i guess all that means is my head is empty.

Thought I would write about the excesses of christmas to help it out, after all blogs are supposed to be topical but its not really helping.

Oysters make you vomit - no really

I've been reading an article about British oysters and it would appear that around 70% of them have the same bug that gives people the winter vomiting bug.  Basically eating too many of them will make you ill.

Fray and Baxters

I've just found out that Baxters of Speyside have purchased the Fray Bentos brand, which I guess is quite a big deal for a company from Moray

Botulism warning over Loyd Grossman korma sauce

Apparently eating Loyd Grossman food out of a jar may give you botulism....I'm actually tempted to end the blog here...

Why a Eurozone crash would be good

There's been alot of talk this week about the state of the European econonomy and it looks like the Euro will be getting diluted pretty soon

My waiter's a monkey

There's alot to be said about good service, where i come from that pretty much means getting the food you ordered if your lucky. I recall a moment in a local pub a couple of years ago when it took...

We need to adopt an English diet apparently

I noticed this article on the BBC news site this week
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-15569788 apparently up to 4000 lives in Scotland, Wales and N Ireland could be saved if we adopt an English style diet.

Fat tax - really?

So this month see's the worlds first fat tax being introduced in Denmark, funny of all the places on earth I wouldnt have put the Danes down as podgers.  Not sure how I feel about this, I mean people don't become obese because of the availablity of fatty foods, it's because they eat more than the

Death row meal part deux

So having finished my potato waffle sandwich starter I am now able to line myself up for the main attraction.  This is a tricky one and the main reaon why i wanted to versions of the death row mealm after all there is a world of choice out there.

Wir sind Berliners

We (Mike Jappy and I that is) are just back from Berlin, great city if you have never been and well worth the visit. Seeing as we are on a food website we'll stick to the culinary side, especially if you like beer and red wine.

Death row meal part one

A much debated subject.  The quandary is this, do you opt for something oustanding that El Bulli would be chuffed with or do you go back to basics and gorge on comfort food.
